Our staff loves helping clients achieve unique looks like these every day! The gorgeous Murray Feiss lifestyle shot above is the perfect example of how easy it can be. If you have a reoccurring metal in your kitchen or bathroom, but have a statement light fixture in a contrasting metal, fear not. It can work, and it can work well. If you find yourself wanting to live a little on the wild side, let this piece of advice guide you. Choose a color scheme to be your definitive guide on which metals to mix. A simple scheme of black, white, and a brassy brown was the guide for this pictured space. It is a monochromatic look with bronze wall accessories and wooden seating. Just a couple of similar tones can tie in the brassy color of the contrasting light fixtures create a cohesive look. To find more fixtures like those, or to find the right fit for your space visit any of our showroom locations in Dothan, Pelham, and Birmingham, AL. You can also find awesome inspiration on our website www.MayerLighting.com. Happy Mixing Monday, folks!

We've all got Spring Break fever here at MLS- everyone is planning their weekend getaways and day dreaming about a vacation home away from home. Lately, we're fascinated with all the creative bunk room designs Pinners have shared on Pinterest. We are so inspired, we created our own page here. Don't cringe till you have looked! These bunk rooms are not at all like your average summer camp digs. No sticky bug spray or mosquito nets here... These bunk rooms break all the rules. 1. Bunk Beds Aren't Just for Kids Anymore Make your built in bunk beds a perfect fit for any age with queen size bunks! Upgrade your linens and add individual lighting for your late night readers... 2. Ditch the Attached Ladders We're not all as nimble and quick as we were in our summer camp days. Let's ditch those attached ladders and try something new- built in steps, or even a much less steeply angled ladder, are a great option for making your bunk rooms adult-friendly. Now, wouldn't you be much more likely to relax and read in your bunk if you didn't have to be monkey to get there? 3. More Bunks, More Friends! Want to host more family, and friends who are like family at your vacation home? Bunk rooms aren't just for one or two kids anymore. You can have a dormitory style quest room with queen size built in bunks. Kind of like a spend the night party, right? Individual lighting is great for those with later bedtimes, or a trip to the kitchen for a midnight snack you don't want to share.... 4. More Space for Kids of All Ages Another plus about bunk beds- they leave much more room for activities! A bunk room with a theme can be a great place for little ones to play, teens to hang out, or for us grown up who want a weekend away with just the girls. With all the extra space in the center of the room you can add a fan for optimum napping, a cool drum for more diffuse lighting, or a funky chandelier for extra flair. 5. Bunks Don't Have to Be for Kids... Or Guests... We all need our own space to unwind, maybe a bunk tucked into a nook is just for you. Let's get real, you can't get comfy on a window seat, so don't waste the space! Make a space that is truly comfy and truly "you." Do you want shelves and a well placed light for reading? Windows to enjoy the view? or quiet place to draw the curtains and just nap? Check out our Bunk Room page on Pinterest for more ideas and come see us at MLS for lighting for your get-away space.
Spring has finally come to Alabama and we can hardly contain ourselves! There's just something about seeing the fresh green sprouts and the flowering plants that gives you energy to start new things all over again. Here are some ideas from our Pinterest page to freshen up your home AND your routine just in time for spring! 1. Spruce up the front door entry way with some fresh paint, a sweet plant, and updated outdoor lighting. 2. Take a "Time Out!" Stop to smell the roses, literally or figuratively. Get out and enjoy all the Magic City has to offer! Visit the Birmingham Botanical Gardens and have lunch in the Café, check out the SkyHy Tree House at Red Mountain State Park, or visit Vulcan Park at sunset for a whole new view of Birmingham. 3. Freshen up your relaxation spaces with some neutral furniture from our showrooms, by the way our Furniture is 20% off today and tomorrow! 4. "Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking..." Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada may not be a fan of florals for Spring, but we all know she was a bit of a stick in the mud anyways. Bring on the pretty flowers! 5. After giving your kitchens and baths the deep-clean treatment take it to the next level. Spruce up your spaces with a lighting facelift.
We are excited to announce that we have another new line in the showrooms, The Light Garden! We are in love with the lanterns, flameless candles, and rechargeable flameless votives from Light Garden. They are the most realistic we've ever seen. The pillar candles are battery operated, and the votives are rechargeable. All of The Light Garden's candles have built in timers, so you don't have to worry about burning through battery power. After five hours the candles will automatically turn off in timer mode.
We also have some more unique items from The Light Garden, like lighted trees and branches pictured below. The lighted trees are outdoor rated and great for events and parties. Come in today and check out our new line! We are excited to introduce a new line into our showrooms this season! Gabby is a locally based décor company with a unique take on transitional style. Our "Bedroom" board on Pinterest is by far our most visited idea page. There's no mystery about why we love to dream about decorating our bedrooms. They are our sanctuaries- where we find peace, and where we recharge. A bedroom is your own little kingdom- where what you say goes, and you can showcase your personal style. Creating a dreamy retreat sounds like fun, but quite frankly, it can be intimidating! That is where we come in. If you see something you like on our Pinterest board, save it and bring it in. We can help you achieve that look with lighting, lamps, furniture and home accessories. Let's Get Started... 1. All White The "All White" look sweeping the nation has staying power because it is everything you want in a master retreat: fresh, airy, and serene. 2. Add Some Sparkle Adding some sparkle is a great way to add personality to a master bedroom. A chandelier doesn't have to bee stuffy and traditional! Depending on your style, a little sparkle could add a dressy touch to a bedroom, and mini-chandeliers in nursery bedrooms are too cute and girly to resist. 3. Rustic Rooms Have you ever noticed how a traditional fixture can throw off a room with rustic décor? Elle Home Lighting, Enter Stage Left. 4. A More Masculine Style Sometimes masculine style is tricky. Masculine style doesn't have to be heavy or dark. Sometimes strong, simplified lines are exactly what you need in light fixtures for a manly look. You don't have to give up your feminine touch in the master suite though! Luxurious textures, fresh flowers, and metallic finishes are all great ways to keep it lush in a masculine room. 5. A Ceiling Fan Upgrade
You don't have to settle for terrible style if you want to have a ceiling fan in your bedroom! We carry different lines with more contemporary looks than your average 52" fan with frosty globes and candelabra bulbs. If you're anything like me, drooling over home design television shows is one of your favorite pass times. It doesn't matter if it's old episodes of Clean House, everyone's favorite brothers, Jonathan and Drew, on Brother vs. Brother, or somewhat new design rockstars Chip and Joanna on Fixer Upper- I'm hooked! If you ever catch yourself watching and wishing, "I wish my house looked like that," snap a picture and come to Mayer Lighting Showroom. We carry fashionable light fixtures like all of these recently featured on HGTV blogs from Fixer Upper and Property Brothers... All month, we've been sharing our favorite things with you. We thought, as our last post before the new year we'd share some of YOUR favorite things from this year as well! 1. Another "Most Popular" Pin- This pin highlights trends from this year, contemporary style, vintage throwbacks, and clean white finishes. We carry fixtures like these in our showroom! 2. Industrial Sconces- This look has been popular both inside and out! Industrial style sconces placed on (or just beside) rustic headboards have been another popularly pinned item from our Pinterest page. 3. One great idea- select a mini chandelier for your walk-in closet to create a luxurious, boutique-like atmosphere. This four light chandelier by Feiss has been very popular both in the showrooms and on Pinterest this year. 4. Embassy Home's Southern Trace Model Home- It looks great! And features some popular styles! All lighting by Mayer Lighting Showroom. 5. The Monroe Collection by World Imports- This contemporary collection is jusssst right! The chandeliers and sconces come in Satin Gold and Dark Antique Bronze.
